Elements of Competency Performance Criteria              
Element: Determine custody requirements
  • Assess circumstances to identify if a care or custody situation exists
       
Element: Determine the extent, type and nature of assistance required for the care or custody of a person including any referral requirements
       
Element: Manage persons in care or custody
  • Identify potential risks and requirements of a person in care or custody
       
Element: Assess risks to mitigate harm to self, colleagues and public
       
Element: Conduct a search of a person in accordance with organisational work health and safety requirements
       
Element: Provide assistance to a person in response to care requirements
       
Element: Monitor and document the care and supervision of a person and ensure it is adjusted as required
       
Element: Assess environmental risks in accordance with organisational work health and safety procedures to ensure the safety, wellbeing, welfare and personal dignity of persons in care or custody
       
Element: Review care provided to support duty of care obligations
       
Element: Communicate information to stakeholders, verbally and in writing, while person is in care or custody and during handover

Assessment Tasks

Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
